I am so fortunate to meet such speical people in the riding. I stopped to visit Walter Higgins on Saturday at his home at the Kiwanis apartments in Sussex to wish him a happy 100th birthday. He says the Lord blessed him with very good life. I would also suggest he has also been blessed with great creative talent. This picture he painted of what were Kings County’s 16 covered bridges really caught my eye hanging on his wall. Beautiful work Walter and Happy birthday to you. 🎂

I had such a nice evening visiting the Fredericton Society of Artists’ Fall Art Show this past weekend. Not only did I admire beautiful art work but I was able to spend time with creative artists who find so much joy and wellness in creating their paintings. I was also able to meet society president Beverley Schneider, mother to my friend and colleague Hon Jill Green, MLA for Fredericton North. Art truly enriches our lives. If you are in Fredericton on Saturday stop into the provincial archive building on Dineen Drive on the UNB campus to visit with the artists and maybe pick up a special Christmas gift. 🎨🖼️

New Brunswickers sure love their hockey and they are incredibly proud to be home to three “Q” league teams - Saint John Sea Dogs, Acadie-Bathurst Titan and Moncton Wildcats. In September I met Mario Cecchini, commissioner for what, until today, has been know as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. We talked about the banning of fighting in the league, safe sport and positive changes being made to the culture of hockey, and we spoke of the league name. Today I was so pleased to get a call by Commissioner Cecchini an hour before he announced the name of the league changing to Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League. It has a nice ring to it….thank you for the great news!! Be sure to support your QMJHL teams this winter…..tickets make a great Christmas gift or stocking stuffer.
