There was a lot of excitement for one little girl in Mrs. Tina Drury’s kindergarten class at Sussex Elementary School when she was named ”Fire Chief for a Day”, drawn by Public Safety Minister Kris Austin from ballots of participating students throughout the province. Rayna May Williams received a bunker suit, plaque, and backpack full of goodies, and a special stuffed Sparky the dog, along with a pizza party and cake for the class. I was so happy to step in for Minister Austin today to join Sussex Fire Chief Tony Reicker, NB Fire Marshal Michael Lewis, Sparky the Fire Dog, fire investigation dog Maureen and her handler Brian Brown and others to celebrate Rayna. Congratulations Rayna. 🚒🚒🚒

Sunday was my husband’s birthday so we spent the day in the most amazing way. We took a nice drive from Sussex, out through Fundy National Park, on to New Horton to spend the morning with one of our favourite artists Tim Isaac to create our own Fundy Mosaic. Tim is a patient, kind teacher and is inspirational beyond words. Having time with an artist is always a brilliant use of time, I am understanding this more and more as minister for the arts. Thank you Tim Isaac. To book a workshop (mosaic, raku firing or clay handbuilding) call him at 506-882-1117 or visit timisaacpottery.com. This is a great Christmas gift idea.
