Tennis in Sussex continues to grow in popularity, and that means in order for the Sussex Tennis Association to host bigger and better tournaments and events, another court is needed. Currently there are three. I was happy to welcome Regional Development Corporation Minister Rejean Savoie recently to see Sussex Mayor Marc Thorne’s plans for a tennis centre expansion at Princess Louise Park which the government of New Brunswick is supporting with $108,000.
Returning international tourists to New Brunswick is a critical piece in rebuilding the sector and rejuvenating the economy after COVID. New Brunswick is growing in popularity for UK and European markets where travellers have more holiday time, book longer vacations, spend more and want to experience our nature, wildlife, soft adventure and culture. France, in particular, has a natural connection to our bilingual province and its Acadian people.
This week I was in London and Paris enjoying the opportunity to visit with key travel brands that promote and sell Canadian travel packages including NB, a firm that pitches stories to travel media on our behalf, as well as Destination Canada - the national entity responsible for promoting Canada in international markets. We have incredible partners around the world sending people our way.
I have learned so much and have loved a little down time seeing two remarkable cities and also embracing the museums and galleries that offer an amazing experience for their visitors as we plan for new heritage infrastructure in our province.
Tourism is an economic driver for our province…and more and more people from overseas want to come here to see what our little province is all about.
