What a day celebrating National Acadian Day with so many of our province’s proud Acadians, including my friend and colleague MLA for Miramichi Bay-Neguac Réjean Savoie. I joined Minister Savoie and Michelle Conroy, MLA for Miramichi, in their ridings for “Quiznou” festivities and visited other wonderful tourism and heritage attractions. Thank you so much for the incredible hospitality.
I had a lot of fun at Le Pays de la Sagouine filming a message with my colleague MLA Glen Savoie, minister responsible for the Francophonie, recognizing the signifance of the Aug. 15 Acadian celebrations happening across the province tomorrow.

The Fundy Sea Shanty Festival in St. Martins took place over the weekend with great songs of the sailors and local food and beverages. And what an amazing weekend volunteer organizers have planned. I am so happy to support this event through the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture’s festivals and events program. St. Martins’ small harbour has a strong heritage of shipbuilding, known as the Jewel in the Crown for building unstoppable schooners that journeyed to every corner of the world. Sea shanties were the songs crews sang as they sailed.
