It was my pleasure to welcome Czech Republic’s ambassador to Canada, Bořek Lizec, during his first official visit to New Brunswick. As Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, as well as Women’s Equality, I enjoyed talking to him about the history of Czech immigration in Atlantic Canada, potential for cultural co-operation, and Women’s Equality initiatives.
Yay!!! The Sussex Farmers Market opened today for the season. My awesome executive assistant Alissa Landry couldn’t resist the cotton candy although she claims it was for her sweet kids.
Today was the launch for the new NB Housing Hub. Thank you to the Multicultural Association of Sussex for hosting. We all know communities are in dire need of workforce and community affordable housing in our rural regions, including Sussex. I was happy to participate as MLA on behalf of Housing Minister Jill Green.
Collaboration to tackle housing shortages is key to success, beginning with provincial and federal government’s shared $1.6 million investment for this strategic initiative.
Two Requests for Expression of Interest (REOI) will be released over the next two weeks - the first will focus on a Rapid Rural Workforce Housing Pilot and the second is for any/all interested groups wanting to build affordable rental housing.
This Hub ensures the right partners are at the table to get some much-needed rental units built across the province.
